In Part 1 of this two-part blog post, I shared two of the Four Decisions that you can make to help you navigate the Spring seasons of your soul. Here are the final two decisions:

Decision 3. Allow time to simplify

During Spring, the weather finally gets warmer. It’s typically the time when people do a “spring clean”. Homes and apartments get cleaned and rearranged, boxes are brought out from storage to pack away winter clothing, unwanted furniture items get placed on the side of the road to be collected. I’m not much of a gardener, but even I get excited to see my husband trimming the hedges and cutting back tree branches! Indeed, the season of Spring seems to be a time in which we want to freshen up our homes and ensure healthy growth for our gardens.

This spring: honestly examine your inner world!

Life gets complicated and exhausting when we don’t deal with our issues.

Hebrews 12:1 TPT says:

As for us, we have all of these great witnesses who encircle us like clouds. So we must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into. Then we will be able to run life’s marathon race with passion and determination, for the path has been already marked out before us.

I want to encourage you to do a stock-take of your soul, just like shops do a stock-take of  their items. It’s so important for us to assess the condition of our:

  • Thoughts & mindsets
  • Emotions
  • Attitudes
  • Habits & daily disciplines
  • Relationships

Simplifying requires letting go in order to receive freedom and to experience wholeness and healing.

Decision 4. Look ahead with expectation

Finally, Spring presents us with signs of new life. The sounds of birds singing early in the morning, flower seedlings beginning to sprout through the soil, new leaves appearing on trees and the birth of animals remind us that change is in the air!

This spring: confidently place your hope in Jesus!

It’s easy to lose your hope in winter, especially when it’s been a long winter of the soul.

I would love to encourage you with this passage from Song of Songs 2:11-13a TPT:

The season has changed, the bondage of your barren winter has ended, and the season of hiding is over and gone. The rains have soaked the earth and left it bright with blossoming flowers. The season for singing and pruning the vines has arrived. I hear the cooing of doves in our land, filling the air with songs to awaken you and guide you forth. Can you not discern this new day of destiny breaking forth around you? The early signs of my purposes and plans are bursting forth. The budding vines of new life are now blooming everywhere. The fragrance of their flowers whispers, “There is change in the air.”

Good things are coming your way! It’s time for a revival of hope! It’s time for Spring!
