Do you have a favourite season? Autumn (or Fall)? Winter? Spring? Summer? Why is it your favourite season? Perhaps you love getting out the  knitted cardigans in Autumn, burning candles in Winter, seeing new flowers blossom in Spring or diving into a pool in Summer.

Well, here’s something about me that is perhaps a little bit strange…

I no longer have a favourite season.

Yes, you read that correctly. My favourite season used to be Summer for obvious reasons – holidays, the beach, sunshine, ice cream. While I still enjoy and look forward to Summer, I’ve come to realise that if I want to get the most out of life all year round, then I need to make every season my favourite season.

Just like our world goes through the rhythm of four seasons each year, our inner world also goes through these seasons. The thing is that we could be experiencing Spring on the outside, but be going through an Autumn on the inside.

Proverbs 10:5 (TPT) says:

“Know the importance of the season you’re in…”

We need to understand why each season is important, then intentionally change our attitude towards some of our current “least favourite” seasons.

Let’s decide to look forward to every part of the year!

Up next: As I’m based in the Northern Hemisphere and am currently experiencing the coldest time of the year, I’m going to start by encouraging you to Let Winter Do Its Work.
